The Romanian Charm
It’s a type of Romanian poetry involving rhyming magic formulas which combined with the correct performance served as an auxiliary to primitive medicine. Charms are still a vivid part of folklore: there are many who recall taking part or witnessing the powers of charms. The teaching of the charms was done with great prudence by the local charmer; because there is a risk she could lose her gift. On the other hand charms must be demystified because they must leave the domain of simple popular superstitions because charms represent important pure sources for the history and language of the Romanian people.
