The first bath
In the water used during the first bath traditiona says that it must contain: basil (so that the baby will be attractive, especially if it’s a girl), wheat (for honesty), dill, mint and camomile (for health), poppy seeds (to sleep well), hemp seeds (for a fast growth), feathers (to be as light as a feather), holy water (to be as pure as the water), sweet milk and eggs (to be healthy and whole as the egg), honey (to be sweet), silver coins and jewelry (for prosperity).
According to tradition, after the money is taken out from the water, the godmother takes it and pours it at the root of a healthy apple tree so that the baby will grow to be as healthy and beautiful as the tree. Then the godmother sits on the receptacle used to bathe the baby and the other women dance around her.
