Touching the beam
In Oltenia, the godmother goes to the baby’s house on Saint Vasile Day with a knot-shaped bread and a silver coin and gifts for the baby and the parents. With the knot-shaped bread placed on the head of the baby, the baby is raised up until he touches the beam of the house wishing him to grow up well, to be healthy and obedient. Then the godmother is sat at the table and given a feast.
