The dressing of the bride
The godmother along with the bride’s mother and close friends help the bride to get dressed. At the end the godmother puts on the veil and the garland. This symbolizes the preparation of the girl for the wedding. In the old days a lot more people were allowed to take part. The dressing was very laborious (the best clothes were used, complicated braids of the hair). Some girls would sing songs about separation.
