The throwing of the bride's bouquet
In the old days almost everything could have been considered as a prediction of bad things. To protect agains evil, the brides used plants, known for the protection they could offer. The plants were attached to the brides clothes from head to toe making her look like a walking salad. Later on the plants were replaced with flowers. Eventually the flowers evolved into the brides bouquet. The bride stands in front of a group of young girls facing the other way and throws the bouquet. The girl who cathes it is supposed to get married next. Other traditions say she will marry the same year.
