The stealling of the bride
The Romanian people are happy and are very open to different tricks and pranks. This explains the preservation of this customs whose origins are unclear. It is said the groom should only be looking at his wife, but some pranksters take advantage of the times when the groom isn’t paying attention and “steal” the bride. The groom has to pay a ransom or has to find her. In some areas the bride must be carried all the time, she mustn’t touch the ground. In other areas, if the bride was stolen by 24:00 the ransom will be paid by the godfather, otherwise the groom will have to pay.
